With the addition of two additional Board Certified Family Medicine Physicians, Dr. Evangeline Obi and Dr. Tiffany Mapp, who took a Post-residency Fellowship in OB-Gyn, the Family Medicine Practice was established in 2014 and represents a portion of the University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center’s commitment to the residents of Prince George’s County to provide compassionate and competent primary medical care on an outpatient, community-oriented basis. In coordination with the launching of the Family Medicine Residency Program at University of Maryland Prince, the Practice was initially established in the Family Health and Wellness Center - Suitland and staffed by Board Certified Family Medicine Physicians, Dr. Stacy Ross and Dr. Nader Tavakoli. In November 2015, the Family Medicine Practice moved to its permanent home on the third third floor of the University of Maryland Family Health and Wellness Center – Cheverly on the campus of University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center at 2900 Mercy Lane, Cheverly, Maryland. With the addition of three additional Board Certified Family Medicine physicians, ‘Dr. Tiffany Mapp and Dr. Adebowale Prest, both of whom took a Post-residency Fellowship in OB-Gyn, the Family Medicine Practice now offers a full range of medical services to patients of all ages, including Obstetrics, Gynecology, Pediatrics and Geriatrics in complement with Adult medical services for both men and women.
Beyond providing excellent medical care to the citizens of Prince George’s county, the Family Medicine Practice is home to the Family Medicine Residency Program - Doctors fulfilling a three year Residency requirement to obtain their Board Certification in Family Medicine. This training program provides additional medical support for the patients of the Family Medicine Practice and provides for patients to be followed by both the Resident and their Board Certified Family Medicine Attending Physician. As a result, patients get TWO doctors evaluating and treating their medical issues.
In addition to providing direct health care to our patients, the Doctors in the Family Medicine Practice honor their commitment to support the general health of Prince George’s County residents by attending community Health Fairs, caring for community Nursing Home residents, providing educational lectures and distributing healthy living information. Our Doctors serve on administrative committees of Prince George’s Hospital Center in a continuing effort to improve the health services provided by the hospital. Because our Doctors are also on the Medical Staff of the hospital, they insure continuity of care before, during and after an unexpected or required hospitalization.
The Doctors of the Family Medicine Practice are committed to Quality Improvement in the provision of health services in the Office, the Hospital and the Community. We seek your feedback about the services we offer and strive to integrate your feedback into the way we practice. Our Doctors conduct reviews of our services and their outcomes in a continuing effort to improve our care. We participate with community organizations to identify and contribute to needed health efforts in the county with an eye toward prevention and health maintenance, rather than treatment.
We are Family Medicine – serving the patient and their family with an appreciation of the community in which they live.
